Ah this reminds me of something that happened yesterday with my sister. We were walking through the mall and she said "Ooh they have Coach here!" I don't really care about designer brands but to some they have importance. Is there a difference between a designer belt and a copy? There probably is in most cases is but for me the choice on which to get would likely be decided based on price. My sister on the other hand would likely decide based on the designer name alone.
In some cases the name does influence my decision whether to buy something or not. For instance, if a video game comes out by the same developer of a game that is well known, I will probably be more interested in researching it than a game by an unknown developer. I will still buy/look at games by unknown developers, but in many cases I will look at a well known developer before researching a lesser known name.
