There is such a fine line between some of the most successful and brilliant people in the world, past and present, and the mentally ill. Throughout human history, many of the most significant advances were made by people who were so obsessive, or seemingly unbalanced in one way or another, that they were not taken seriously until it was realized what they were capable of. Timothy Treadwell has experienced his own set of struggles, many of which we cannot assume to know anything about, yet he appears to be no more of a nutcase than any of the other pioneers of our time. Herzog describes his view of documentaries vs. feature films as fluid; each category spilling over into the other. In Timothy's case, this directly parallels the fine line between what is incredible or passionate and what is crazy.
