A lot of things in the movie
Grizzly Man were weird. The fact that he thought he was protecting the bears, and
even worse the fact that he thought he was a bear. Certain scenes show us that
Treadwell is crazy. For example, who yells that much at a wild fox for stealing
a hat…it’s a fox. But what I found to be one of the weirdest parts of the video
was the ex-girlfriend. Every time they showed her she acted as though she had
suffered the worst of everyone. She even said at one point that she thought of
herself as his widow. The whole time I was just thinking, she’s his ex. He had
another girlfriend, who died for him, you are not his widow. It makes me think
about how people change once something bad happens. If something bad happens to
you, suddenly everyone is your best friend and wants to help. And if someone
passes away it can become a competition of who loved them the most and is in
the most pain. She also could be acting this way for her 15 minutes of fame. If
she’s the closest thing they have to a widow, the more upset and dramatic she
is, the more attention she will get. It might not even be something she is
conscience of. It could just be that now that he is gone, she is romanticizing
their relationship and truly believes that she is now a widow. I’m not trying
to be insensitive and I’m sorry if it comes off that way, but I have trouble picturing
exs getting along so well that they feel as though they’re married.
